Easy spray paint make-over project

Blog· Easy Crafts and DIY· Easy home improvements

You know I’m all about keeping things simple! And a lot of the time the easiest “make-overs” are the ones that involve just one thing .. a quick lick of (spray) paint for a brand new look! Like this toilet roll holder which I bought this on Market Place for £5 a few months ago. I loved the design of it (I mean, how cute is this going to look in our bathroom?!), but never liked the colour. It would just look soooo much better in black.

so, here we go!

I was lucky enough recently to win a selection of Rustoleum spray paint when I entered my blanket box in a competition. And so I chose these spray paints .. and yes, I did already have this project in mind at that time 🙂

This all surface universal black spray paint sounded perfect for what I needed. And it sprays from ALL angles too .. Whoop!! Bonus!!! And with some sunshine in the garden it was the perfect chance to get this done. There is absolutely no magic, being artistic or hard work involved with this! Just make sure whatever you’re spraying is clean and free from dust/grease, put down some protective paper/cardboard, put on a mask and you’re good to go! Note to self – husbands do not like spray paint going onto the lawn or stepping stones .. I speak from experience!

I gave the project a light spray, following the instructions on the product, and let it dry completely before turning it over and covering all angles. All in all it took a few layers but that was mainly as there are so many angles, wires and scrolls on this thing. BUT, I’m so pleased with the result and how it looks in our bathroom.

Who knew you get excited over a toilet roll holder? (Well, I do anyway 😉 ) I definitely need to get out more!

There’s only so much you can show for a bathroom, but here’s a pic of how it all ties together. Do you have any “super simple” makeovers that took you no time at all? I’m always looking for inspiration so let me know your ideas.

By the way, if you have a moment, please would you be able to pin this to Pinterest so others can see how a quick spray paint can make all the difference? Thanks so much!
