If you want to add some Spring happiness to your home with VERY minimal effort, then look no further than this project made with a free printable! You don’t need any special equipment, just a printer, a wooden circle and some very basic craft supplies!
And even if you’ve not crafted before, I think you’ll be surprised how easy it is to make this cute little bunny sign! Go on .. Have a go! Let me talk you through it.
here’s what you need
My free printable – I printed mine on white cardstock
This 7 inch wooden sign (which is the perfect size for the printable!)
Mod Podge
White acrylic paint
Brush
Scissors
Some embellishments (I used ribbon and a daisy)
Craft rope
Hot glue
Some string and a popsicle stick to make a hanger if needed

and here’s how easy it is to make your cute sign
I started by painting the wooden surface with a layer of white acrylic paint. The white background helps to keep your image nice and bright.

Once that’s all dried, head over to the free printable here. Use a normal household printer or have it printed at your local print shop. I printed mine out on white cardstock with a basic ink jet printer.
Cut the image to the required size. I actually designed the printable to fit this 7 inch wooden base from Hobbycraft so if you’re using this, all you have to do is cut on the outer edge.
Once you’ve cut this, take your Mod Podge and cover your wooden circle with a layer.

Press your design into place and secure into place by going over it with the back of your hand. Make sure the edges are nicely stuck down.
I used cardstock and this produced no bubbles. However, if you are using normal printer paper you may need to get some cling film to put over your images and carefully work out the bubbles and wrinkles (if there are any).
Check out this post here to see what I mean with the cling film technique.

I left the project to completely dry before covering with another layer of Mod Podge for protection.

Once your image is all dried, if you want to, you can tidy up any edges by carefully sanding them down with some sandpaper or an emery board (fine to medium grit), but be careful not to damage the image.
(You can tell by the photos it had turned evening as the color is a LOT more vivid in real life! 🙂 )

Finishing touches
To completely finish off this project I hot glued some craft rope around the circle. This fitted perfectly in the small groove of the sign.

And finally I hot glued a bow and a daisy onto the top where the 2 pieces of rope met. It just tidies it up a bit and makes it even more colourful.
Ready for the results?

First of all, here’s the bow – doesn’t this color look pretty?

Can you see the slight sheen on the project? I used the gloss Mod Podge this time (the matte version is on order!). I would normally go for a matte finish but the choice is yours. Both work absolutely fine!

Such a cute bunny for Easter!

And of course you can easily make a small hanger on the back if you prefer to have this as a hanging sign.
