Last minute Terracotta carrot pot for your Easter table

Blog· Easter / Spring· Easy Crafts and DIY· Seasonal decorating

This carrot pot has to be one of THE easiest little projects you can make!

It’s absolutely perfect as a last minute addition to your Easter table! You’ll only need a few items and it takes very little time to put together. In fact, the drying time is probably the longest part of this project.

After that it only took me about 10 minutes to do this on a Facebook Live recently.

here’s what I used

Terracotta pots with matching saucers (approx 11 cm) – I recommend checking out your local garden Centre
Orange acrylic paint
Ribbon
Green Felt
Hot glue

Some sweets and Easter eggs to fill your pot with

here’s how simple it is to make your carrot pot

I painted the outside of the pot and the bottom of the saucer. (You are going to be turning the saucer up side down, so the bottom will become the top.) It took two coats of paint, leave to dry in between coats.

Once it’s dried, this is the time when you decide what to fill your pot with, as a surprise for Easter morning. I didn’t do this on the Live (we had our Easter early and all the chocolate has been eaten 🙂 .. I really can’t buy any more .. my summer clothes won’t allow it 😉 )

Next, take your ribbon or string and drape it over the top of the pot. Carefully turn the pot upside down (leaving the ribbon on the surface, underneath your project) and cross the ribbon underneath the bottom of the pot. Just like you are wrapping a bow around a present. Turn the whole thing back the right way up.

Take one end of your ribbon and push underneath the ribbon that is on top of the saucer. Do the same with the other end of ribbon and tie a single knot to secure.

Next, I took a small bit of felt and cut this into strips, leaving some additional material at the top of the felt. Fold it double to allow the material to be glued to the top. Secure with a bit of hot glue, creating the green foliage of the carrot.

Lastly I took the ribbon and tied a small bow around the bottom of the felt.

how it looks on your table

And here’s a quick idea on how it will look on your Easter table.

Because we’ve had our Easter breakfast I’ve not made enough for all of us .. BUT will be very tempted to make enough for our whole family for next year.

I’m loving the orange colour – it’s so gorgeous and bright!

How cute is this as a last minute addition to your table?
