Well, didn’t 2020 just take the Jumanji game to a whole new level?! Before I start this post, I just want to say that I hope you and nearest and dearest have been able to keep safe and well. And second of all, I genuinely hope you’ve come out of this with a job to return to now we’re gradually all getting back to work.
But of course, many of us in office jobs are continuing to work from home. And, if you can believe the media, lots of us have NO intention of rushing back to a packed office any time soon! I mean, where else can you roll out of bed at 8.50 and be ready for work at 9.00 am? Or take a conference call meeting sitting in your pyjama bottoms whilst wearing a smart top on a video call? .. (yes, you know who you are!!) Not to mention the time and money you’re saving on your daily commute .. and those designer coffees 😉
Add a homely touch to your improvised office
Now whether it’s by choice, or because your employer can’t get you into the office because of health and safety issues, if you’re going to be turning part of your lounge or bedroom into a combined office, you’re gonna want to add some homely touches! And if you’re anything like me, those touches had better be colourful! Am I right?! And maybe covered in glitter?! OK, the glitter may have to hold, but this little 10 minute sign will sit perfectly on your improvised desk. Here’s how you can make it yourself with some colourful paper (like this one) and my free print out template!

I used a Ribba Frame from Ikea (a bargain at £3!) for this one but you can adjust it to any picture frame you have to hand. Start off by cutting out a colourful background to the size of the back of the frame. Simply place the backing on top of the paper, trace and cut to size.

Next take a coordinating sheet of paper that is light enough in colour for the “Home Sweet Office” print to stand out. I picked this gorgeous pink colour to match the background. Cut this to size so you’re able to put it in the printer. I just cut it down to A4 – see picture

Download the “Home Sweet Office” wording here and print onto your chosen paper. Next, cut down the paper with the wording so the backing paper is still showing (this size was approx. 18 cm square.)

raising the stakes sign ..
I wanted the top of the paper to be raised slightly from the back and so I used some silicone glue. Normally I would have used these little 3D pads but I couldn’t find them in my craft stash for the life of me, so this glue was the next best thing. Just add a fair few dollops (technical term!) of silicone glue to the back of the paper and gently place on top of the other paper. Do not press it down too much as you want to give it a raised 3D effect. You just kinda rest it on top and let it set. Of course this step is completely optional! You can just glue it right on top if you want to but I think it just adds a bit of dimension to the sign.
Leave to set until the glue is dry and place your creation back into the frame. And that’s all there is to it. Your very own “Home Sweet Office” sign, just to add a bit of fun to your working area or desk space.

Let me know if you’ll be creating your own? And if you do, I’d love to see it so don’t forget to tag me on social media! Oh, by the way, if you could do me a big favour? Sharing is caring! Would you share this on social media for me so others can find it too? To add some fun to their desks .. I’d be really grateful!
