Here’s a confession for you. Although I don’t think it’ll come as a big surprise to you 😉 .. I get bored quite easily and can’t sit still. I’m ALWAYS moving things around in our home (my poor husband ..) Or creating something to transform a little corner here and there. Which is why I love to create things on a budget! With some basic materials you can make THE cutest creations in hardly any time at all. Like this little heart confetti canvas.
The little canvas only cost me £1.25 from Home Bargains. And the rest of the materials I still had in my craft stash. Here’s how I did it.
I actually gave the canvas a coat of white paint. Not strictly necessary I suppose as it made very little difference in the colour.

adding the stripes to your canvas
Next I took some low tack masking tape and added some stripes to the canvas. Like this:
Add three stripes Take the second one away And place under the 3rd one Take the 3rd one away Repeat the same process Wrap around the sides
With some black paint and a make-up sponge (these are PERFECT for stenciling!!) I “stencilled” the black stripes. Looking back, if I was doing this project to have up as a long term display I would have stencilled on white paint first to prevent any bleeding. But what can I say? I’m impatient!!
Next I printed out a heart shape on the computer and cut this into a stencil. I used my Silhouette Cameo machine, but you can easily do this with a pair of scissors too. Secure in place with some of the tape. Get your Mod Podge and add this to the inside of the heart shape. I covered the sides first, working from the outside to the inside to get nice sharp edges.
Anyone else loving the black and white heart design? I may have to make another one!
Take away your “stencil” and sprinkle the heart with heart confetti or red glitter. I used confetti as I had this to hand, but glitter may cover the glue better!
There were quite a few gaps after my first “sprinkling”, so I left it to dry and filled up the gaps with some more Mod Podge and confetti.
Leave to dry and give it a home!

I love how it sparkles when it catches the light. As you can see, I had a bit of a play with it to try out different ways of dressing the tray.

Just adding some red felt to the bottom of the tray, as well as some red and white pom poms in a jar just brings back the colour and ties the theme together 🙂

Update!!!
.. After I did the photos I went back and added some wording with my letter stamps (told you I can’t sit still!! ) .. what do you think?
