Anyone else run out of steam by Christmas Day?! December seems to pass in a blur trying to sort out all the things!! Shopping, buying presents, wrapping them and writing the tags. Not to mention the endless amounts of Christmas cards that need writing and sending! By the time it comes to setting our Christmas table, less work is definitely more! And these Candy Cane place settings are the perfect finishing touch. Minimum effort, but HOW CUTE do they look? Finish them off with these FREE printables for your Christmas family table!
what you need for your Christmas Place Settings
- Candy canes – you will need 3 for each setting
- Some string / twine
- An embellishment or small bow
- Hot glue
- Free printable place settings – all you have to do is write the names
Here’s how easy it is!
Hot glue 2 candy canes together at a slight angle.
Next, hot glue a third candy cane onto the back so it will stand up unsupported.

If you want to, you can tidy up the top by cutting them all to the same length. This is optional, but it made me feel better 😉 – you can see the after effects on my work surface!

I bought these card holders from Aldi’s a few weeks ago. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them at the time, BUT I knew I needed them!! Turns out they were just perfect for this project. It even came with the string I needed too.
Add a small amount of glue to keep a small bit of string in place and wrap it around the top of the three canes.
Originally I left the bottom bit of the peg on. But I didn’t like it. It stuck out from the top and was too far from the candy cane .. see what I mean?

So, with a bit of persuading 😉 , I took off the whole peg. This way I was able to hot glue it straight onto the string. And voila!!! That’s it – all done.
If you can’t find these card holders, you can add a small bow, or some greenery.
It won’t take you very long AT all to create your Christmas Candy Cane place settings. Which I think have turned out adorable!! Here’s one with another embellishment on the top.
