I have been looking for a little Christmas nativity set for a while now. And of course there are loads you can buy new. But, honestly? Most of them are WAY over my budget! Don’t get me wrong, they’re gorgeous but definitely a bit more than I’m able (or willing) to spend.
Now, if you’ve been following me for a while you know that I’m a little bit Facebook Marketplace obsessed. OK, you got me .. I’m a LOT Marketplace obsessed. But for good reason .. Because once again my obsession paid off! Guess where I found my Christmas nativity set bargain? So I picked these up, (in the middle of the summer … talk about Christmas in July!) for the bargain price of £6.

updating your christmas nativity set
Now you’d be forgiven for thinking that it’s a bit of an outdated Christmas nativity set. (Because that’s exactly what I was thinking too!) BUT, fortunately I’ve done enough projects to know a lick of paint can transform it into something short of a Christmas miracle 😉
And so this Rustoleum white chalk spray paint came to the rescue. Can I get a HURRAY for spray paint?! For another seasonal spray paint project, check out my blog post here.

And so I took to the workshop to give them a bit of a Christmas make-over. Here’s what they looked like after one coat. I know, it’s not great! But bear with me ..

It actually took me a few covers of paint for the little figurines to be completely white, so be patient. Leave the paint to dry in between coats and you will get there!
And this is them now as part of our Christmas fireplace display:

As you can tell, we’re very much sticking to the traditional Christmas colours in our lounge. Mind you, the fact that the wall and our chairs are red helps with the whole Christmas vibe!!
I’m still working on finishing the fireplace, but I’m very happy with how it looks so far!

What do you think? Will you be keeping an eye out for a bargain Christmas nativity set? I suggest checking out Charity shops and Marketplace just after Christmas as a lot of people are selling items they haven’t used this year!
