Love is in the air! (Hopefully very quickly followed by Spring being in the air, but let’s not get ahead of myself .. !) Anyway, whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or just looking to infuse a little extra love into your daily routine, decorating with Valentine’s Day decor is a great way to embrace some colour and fun into your home! Let me show you what I did to my small coffee corner. Got no corner? Don’t worry!! – you can do some amazing things with just a tray too! Hopefully this will give you some ideas on how to create your own.
Blank canvas
This is my starting point .. The chopping board hides the ugly socket but it’s looking pretty bland, right?
I love my little coffee shelving unit (I picked it up a few years ago in TK Maxx and Rob cut it to size for me as it had a decorative scroll on the top and it was slightly too high to fit under our units). Now it’s perfect for holding some mugs and other items.
I started by adding some heart shaped ribbon to the edge of the little shelves. You know, just to bring the LOVE theme to life (and hide some imperfections on the shelves but .. shhhhh!!). Some small stickers on some of the hearts kept the ribbon in place.
Adding some colour!!
Now the fun start with adding some heart themed red and pink items. And doesn’t that ribbon make an immediate difference??
Now, of course, unlike Christmas, Valentine decor is not up for very long and so I don’t want to spend an absolute fortune on buying expensive items. And Home Bargains does some great seasonal things. Which is where I grabbed myself these mugs. They did have different designs, but I settled on these ones.
We had a little mother/son trip out to Ikea recently and I picked up the serviette holder. The serviettes are from The Range and form a great pink/ red backdrop.
And whilst I don’t want to spend a looooad of money on Valentine decor, I don’t mind spending a little bit more if I think I’m going to re-use items in the future.
Like these cute Valentine gonks I found on Amazon. And for just under £12 for the pair, I figured they were worth the money as I’ll definitely be able to re-use them for future years! If not for my coffee corner, they can take pride of place on our fireplace next year. Here’s one of them – you’ll Mrs Valentine a bit further down this post!
I still had these glass stack-able storage jars which I got from Home Bargains a few years ago and they’ve definitely done me proud! They’re perfect to fill up with seasonal treats! Amazon do some similar ones here.
Filling in the gaps
You’ll see some of the projects I created recently which I used to fill in the gaps on the shelves and around the area.
Like this “Love is brewing” sign – I love how that’s turned out!! You can find out how you can make your own right here. And of course the beaded garland which I made on a Facebook Live. You can catch the video here.
You can probably see the heart shaped photo on the top shelf? That was another Home Bargain find and houses a picture of Rob and myself on holiday last year. Here’s a closer look at the confetti filled frame:
And here’s a final look at everything together. Oh, I forgot to say – I had a small heart shaped spoon which I threaded on some heart ribbon and hang on the glass storage jars. And the cocoa shaker I’ve had for years – sorry, can’t remember where I bought it!
And of course it’s not complete without my Valentine tree. Oh .. see Mrs Valentine on the right next to the tree? Didn’t I tell you they were cute?
I hope it has given you some inspiration to have a go at adding some Valentine touches to your home. Don’t forget to tag me in any of your creations!
