I’m excited to share this simple autumn project with you! You see, you don’t need elaborate things to add some autumn touches to your home. SO many things can be given a “pumpkin” vibe make-over! Like this wood slice pumpkin for instance. And you’re bound to have some of the things you need in your craft stash! Here’s how simple it is!
Here’s what you need for your wood slice pumpkin
I used this wood slice from Hobbycraft
Some pumpkin acrylic paint from The Range
A selection of ribbons – I get a LOT of mine from USATOUKWREATHS on Etsy – (seriously, go and check her shop out! You won’t be disappointed!!)
A stick from the garden
Some craft leaves or greenery (I got mine from The Works last year)
Hot glue
Some wooden letters (optional!)
Let’s make this bad boy!
OK, so making this beauty could not be easier! You can catch me putting the whole wood slice pumpkin together during my Live on Facebook here.
BAAASICALLY … you start by painting you wood slice with the pumpkin acrylic paint.
I used this paint, but didn’t like the coverage as much. As such I have linked my “original ” pumpkin paint above! Either one will do the job!
Once the paint has dried, you hot glue a stem to the top of your slice. I just used a stumpy stick from the garden and decorated it with some craft leaves. Add a messy bow and you’re pretty much done!
I actually added some wording to the pumpkin originally. No explanation for this step – you just hot glue them on when you are happy with the position of the letters.
And here’s how it turned out!
Slightly off track … just how ADORABLE are these salt and pepper pumpkins from TKMaxx?
Mixing it up!!
As I was trying to style the wood slice pumpkin I just couldn’t get it to my liking (I’m fussy like that!..) SOOO I peeled the letters off ..
And here’s how it looks now!
It just created a bit of a more neutral backdrop to what I wanted.
I think both look lovely! It’s just personal presence on how you want to style your wood slice pumpkin.
By the way, see the big owl? That was another makeover project – check out how it looked before!
Anyway, back to this project! Which style is your favorite?
